Drivelink UK: Back in Business
The assets of Drivelink UK have been purchased from the administrators KPMG on the 28th of May 2010.
Roy Carruthers managing director of Commercial Propshaft Services Ltd, who founded Drivelink in 1990, has purchased all of the assets including Trade and Domain Names. Having sold my shares in 2001 I have watched, with interest, the development of the company over the following years and was saddened by the unfortunate chain of events that led to the company going into receivership, with the loss of so many loyal and skilled employees. I feel the break up of such a unique remanufacturing unit will be a great loss to the UKs automotive aftermarket, hence my decision to reinvest.
CPS have purchased the factory, plant, and Machinery and all associated equipment, but most importantly we have employed key members of staff who collectively over the past 20 years made Drivelink into one of the leading remanufactures of automotive product with a worldwide reputation for quality and performance. We intend to re-establish the company once again as the UKs No1 for engineering expertise and quality. An ongoing policy of investment in the very latest equipment and key personnel recruitment is now underway, and will continue over the coming months supplemented with a database of product information second to none in the UK.

Drivelink will initially trade under the CPS/DRIVELINK AUTOMOTIVE banner. Commercial Propshafts Ltd has been established since 1976. Our factory adjoins Drivelink and is situated on the Team Valley Trading Estate Gateshead. We will increase our facility to over 50000 sq ft of manufacturing and distribution and combined with first class road links we are well positioned to service all UK and European customers.
Drivelinks product range remains the same however we have vastly increased our motorsport division. We now specialise in the design and manufacture of performance driveline products for all areas of motorsport. Our customer base ranges from private individual enthusiasts to kit-car manufactures and from race/rally teams to OEM race car manufacturers. We also produce a range of marine driveshafts for OEM luxury tender/speedboat manufacturers and marine engine manufacturers worldwide. Our latest products now include a full range of Quad/ATV driveshafts for the UK/European market along with replacement high-strength axle bars and associated components.
Drivelink will provide the one-stop re-manufacturing facility to local/national customers who are unable to source that driveshaft, cv joint, power steering pump etc... from their established supplier. They can feel confident that their product will be processed within a 24 hour period and shipped anywhere in the UK or Europe. Our re-manufacturing capability, established over many years has in place bespoke Driveshaft/CV Joint regrinding machinery along with state of the art Dynamic Balancing, Friction Welding and Power Steering and Pump test equipment.
It will take a short period of time to re-commission all the plant and equipment that has remained dormant since February, however, we can guarantee that our Driveshaft / CV Joint regrinding and power steering pump remanufacturing cells will be in operation with immediate effect.
To conclude we hope to welcome back both customers past and present and of course anyone related to the automotive industry who may feel they could benefit from the service we can provide.
